Our Story

Welcome to Byers Premium Cattle, Inc. - Home of 6 Pack Meats!

Located in Berwick, Illinois, the Byers' family farming operation began with first generation farmer, Ron Byers, in the late 1970s. The farm began with a custom forage harvesting business in 1983 and grew to include four crews chopping and bagging silage for customers in three states.

Ron's son, Dan, returned to the family farming operation after graduating from the University of Illinois in 2001 which allowed the forage harvesting business to grow further. In 2018, Dan began managing the cattle operation, transitioning the herd into a fall-calving herd. Always looking for new ways to expand their business, the Byers began raising freezer beef for local customers in 2015. 

6 Pack Meats started in 2020 when Dan and his wife, Missy, were looking for a way to grow the butcher beef sales which were already a part of the farm. The natural next step was to expand and offer their products to a larger audience through smaller bundles, local delivery sales and shipping within the continental U.S. Issues in the food supply chain and consumers' desire for more farm-to-table purchases drove Dan and Missy to take the steps to help meet this demand by expanding product offerings to pork as well.

In addition to farming, raising livestock and providing local, high-quality meat for families' dinner plates across the country, Dan and Missy stay busy raising the third generation of Byers Premium Cattle, Inc., their daughters Hayven and Ariana.
